Arena di Verona

Built around 30 AD, the Arena di Verona is the third-largest Roman amphitheater in Italy, and it still functions as a venue: every summer since 1913, outdoor opera performances here have drawn audiences of up to 15,000 people. The original outer ring collapsed in an earthquake in 1117, which is why the structure looks truncated from the outside.
