The Ponte dell’Accademia, built as a temporary wooden bridge in 1933, is still crossing the Grand Canal at the Accademia vaporetto stop in Dorsoduro. It gives the widest open view of the Grand Canal from any pedestrian bridge in Venice, looking toward the Rialto on one side and toward the dome of Santa Maria della Salute on the other. Free and always accessible. The Gallerie dell’Accademia is directly on the Dorsoduro side; combine the two. Early morning is significantly less crowded than midday.
