Five steel platforms extending from the Krippenstein plateau at 2,100 meters form the 5 Fingers, the most dramatic viewpoint in the Salzkammergut. The drop to the valley floor is roughly 400 meters; each platform has a different feature, including a glass floor, a glass bench, and an open metal grate. The view below takes in the Hallstattersee directly and, on clear days, the full lake chain including the Attersee and Traunsee to the north. Access requires the Dachstein cable car from Obertraun, about 5 km from Hallstatt on the south shore of the lake. Cable car return tickets cost roughly EUR 30-35 for adults. The platform opens with the cable car from May to October; book tickets online in summer peak season to avoid queues. Combine with the Dachstein Ice Cave, which is at an intermediate cable car station on the same ascent.

5 Fingers Lookout
Also known as 5fingers Aussichtsplattform
Five steel viewing platforms extending from the Krippenstein plateau at 2,100 meters above Hallstatt look like a hand reaching out over the Salzkammergut lakes below. Each finger points in a different direction over the valley; one has a glass floor, one has a glass bottom bench, one an open grate underfoot.
