Soelden is an Oetztal glacier resort with two ski areas above 3,000 meters, hosting the annual World Cup ski season opener in late October on the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers. The 007 Elements exhibition built into the Gaislachkogl summit after Spectre filming there adds a cultural layer to the mountain infrastructure. Hotels cluster along the main road in the valley and near the gondola stations. Bus from Innsbruck through the Oetztal takes about 90 minutes. The season runs from October through May at glacier altitude. Obergurgl at the end of the road beyond Soelden offers a quieter alternative at higher altitude. For serious glacier skiing at scale, Soelden is the obvious choice in Tyrol.
