Pertisau sits on the western shore of the Achensee, Tyrol’s largest lake at 930 meters altitude, with direct views across the water to the Rofan mountains. The village is primarily a wellness destination, with hotels ranging from traditional guesthouses to full-service spa properties. Sailing and windsurfing take advantage of the strong north wind that reliably blows down the lake in summer. The Achenseebahn steam cog railway connects to Jenbach and the main Inn valley rail line in about 40 minutes, making the lake accessible without a car. Swimming, hiking into the Karwendel nature reserve, and the historic lake steamers round out the summer offer. Cross-country skiing on the plateau above the lake is available in winter.
