Hellbrunn is the southern edge of Salzburg where the compact city gives way to parkland and forest. The early seventeenth-century palace and its trick fountains form the center, with Salzburg Zoo and the paths on Hellbrunner Berg close by.
It is easy to reach by bus or bicycle and works as a half-day district rather than a single isolated attraction. The Sound of Music pavilion adds another connection, but the palace landscape is the stronger reason to come.
