Grödig sits below the Untersberg where Salzburg’s southern edge meets the mountain. The Untersbergbahn departs from St. Leonhard nearby, carrying visitors quickly from the valley floor to the limestone plateau and its wide views.
The town itself is quiet and functional rather than a resort. It makes sense as the geographic base for the cable car, mountain approaches, and places immediately south of Salzburg.
